Taxman

Lennon allegedly gave Harrison a line or two for "Taxman," considered to be evidence of George's emerging songwriting capabilities. The song was a comment on Great Britain's burdensome tax structure since Harrison believed that the government was taking an inordinate amount of the group's earnings. The song was recorded at Abbey Road on April 20, 1966 at Abbey Road, with overdubs added on April 22 and May 16. It was the opening track for Revolver, with George counting into the song in a deep voice.

Harrison sang the lead, woth Lennon and McCartney singing backing vocals. McCartney plays bass and lead guitars, Lennon plays tambourine, and Starr plays drums. George said he was glad that Paul did the lead guitar with a slight Indian flavor.
