Beatles History: The Beatles Play Washington

A Beatles fact known to most older fans (because they witnessed it) is that the Beatles, just two days after their American television debut, played to 20,000 fans at the Washington, D.C. Coliseum. An even lesser known fact is that the Beatles played on a boxing ring with the ropes taken down. The concert was also seen in cities around the country on closed circuit TV in large auditoriums. From there, they went to Miami for the next Sullivan show and would also play Carnegie Hall before returning to England.
