Beatles History: Nasa Sends "Across the Universe" into Space

On February 4, 2008, NASA digitally transmitted the Beatles' "Across the Universe" toward the star Polar, also known as the North Star. Other than the gold record attached to the Voyager spacecraft, this was the first time music was sent to deep space. Since Polaris is 431 light years from earth, it will take 431 years for the song to reach the star. The broadcsat celebrated the 40th anniversary of the song's recording and the 50th anniversary of Nasa.
