Beatles News: Hotel Room Becomes a Shrine

Among Beatles facts, most fans know that John and Yoko staged bed-ins for peace shortly after their marriage, "talking in their bed for a week." The Beatle and his bride staged a bed-in at the Amsterdam Hilton and another at the Fairmont Queen Elizabeth in Montreal, Canada. Their room at the latter, Suite 1742, now has a plack commemorating the Lennons stay at the hotel. It was during a bed-in that John recorded "Give Peace a Chance." With him were Timothy Leary, Petula Clark, Tommy Smothers, and many others. Another Beatles fact is that the saga of John and Yoko's quest to get married and their subsequent honeymoon were the subject of "The Ballad of John and Yoko," a song on which only two Beatles played and sang: John and Paul.
